Analyse structurelle des déterminants du comportement innovatif des entreprises industrielles

Abstract

Cet article présente les résultats d'une étude portant sur les déterminants du comportement innovatif d'un échantillon de plus de 1 800 entreprises industrielles de taille moyenne. Un modèle comprenant 7 équations relie dix caractéristiques fondamentales de ces entreprises et de leurs marchés à l'intensité et à la nature de leurs efforts dans le domaine du lancement de nouveaux produits, de même qu'il quantifie l'impact de leur programme de modification et de développement de produits sur leur profitabilité et leur prévisions de croissance. Nos résultats montrent que l'environnement concurrentiel affecte davantage le programme de R&D que celui de recherche marketing; un fort effet de synergie négative entre R&D et recherche marketing quant au nombre de nouveaux produits mis en marché; et de forts effets d'interaction entre le type de recherche et le type d'innovation sur les indicateurs de performance organisationnelle.
