The design of optimal area yield crop insurance contract

Abstract

L'auteur caractérise la forme optimale du contrat d'assurance dont l'indemnité est basée sur les rendements des surfaces en culture dans une région. La pleine assurance en deçà d'un rendement agrégé critique peut être optimale, même si l'assureur éprouve de l'aversion envers le risque, et sa fonction de coûts administratifs est convexe. Lorsque l'on considère une relation linéaire entre les rendements individuels et les rendements agrégés, la franchise relative ou la coassurance en deçà d'un rendement agrégé critique s'avère optimale selon que le coefficient de volatilité est supérieur ou inférieur à l'unité. Ce schéma alternatif d'assurance pourrait être un outil pertinent de gestion des risques agricoles dans la perspective d'un développement du marché européen de l'assurance agricole.
