Modelling labour decisions of French agricultural households

Abstract

Le modèle du ménage agricole est utilisé pour modéliser simultanément les décisions des deux membres du ménage de travailler sur et/ou hors de l'exploitation et la décision d'employer de la main-d'oeuvre salariée. Le modèle est appliqué à un échantillon de 7 032 ménages agricoles français. Un modèle Logit multinomial et les fonctions d'offre et de demande de travail sont estimés. Le comportement de l'homme est principalement influencé par les caractéristiques de l'exploitation. Travail agricole masculin et travail salarié sont plutôt complémentaires. La probabilité de participation de la femme au marché du travail extérieur dépend de ses caractéristiques individuelles (âge et niveau de formation générale) et des caractéristiques familiales (nombre et âge des enfants). Travail agricole féminin et travail salarié sont plutôt substituables.
