Les jeunes et la religion : un état des lieux

Abstract

Les rapports entre les jeunes et la religion cultivent le paradoxe : d'un côté, des signes de retour du religieux (baptêmes d'adolescents) et le succès des grands rassemblements européens, de l'autre, le constat d'une désaffection croissante et d'une large indifférence, tandis que les "croyances parallèles" (astrologie, télépathie, réincarnation) sont en diffusion et se mêlent volontiers aux croyances chrétiennes. Tant les sociologues que les responsables religieux étaient plutôt déroutés par cette situation et par ce bricolage frisant le syncrétisme. Les recherches effectuées sur ces questions étant assez nombreuses pour permettre d'en tirer une vue d'ensemble, malgré des lacunes, l'Association Française de Sociologie Religieuse a organisé en 1992 son colloque annuel sur le thème 'Jeunes et religions en France". Nous en tirerons les principales conclusions.
