Abstract

This paper examines the integration within an Intermediate-Sized Enterprise (ETI) formed as a group and composed of SMEs. Object of transition between the SME and a large company, an ETI in a dynamics of growth is brought to acquire SMEs and has to find a unity within it. An exploratory case study conducted in a subsidiary led us to conclude that the weight of its organizational context represents an obstacle to the desire for integration of the ETI. It also appears that the limited integration is due to an inability of the head office to overcome the paradox of maintaining an entrepreneurial culture within it and a willingness to managerialisation. HR practices and ICTs used as a powerful force for integration by the ETI have little influence on the site practices that keeps partly autonomous functioning.
