Limerzel, quatre-vingts ans de catholicisme dans une commune du Morbihan

Abstract

Il s'agit moins d'une monographie que d'une étude de cas, où les faits sont traités en tant que "faits de civilisation". Le choix de la région où se trouve Limerzel résulte lui-même d'un examen des cartes de pratique religieuse et de scolarisation primaire privée, qui faisaient apparaître dans l'Ouest (Massif Armoricain : régions Bretagne, Pays-de-Loire, Basse-Normandie) quatre zones de forte tradition catholique : la moitié est du Morbihan et sa bordure en Ille-et-Vilaine, le Léon (Nord-Finistère), les pays de Vitré, Fougères et leur bordure mayennaise, enfin les bocages vendéen et maugeois. Parallèlement à l'enquête paroissiale, j'ai poursuivi l'étude au niveau de l'Ouest en dressant des cartes cantonales de la densité du clergé, des votes politiques, des affaires passant en justice, ainsi qu'en calculant les corrélations entre les taux cantonaux de pratique dominicale, de scolarisation primaire catholique, de vote pour la droite et le centre, et de densité du clergé.
