Abstract

Au cours de ses 50 années de carrière, Gérald Zaltman a contribué aux champs du comportement du consommateur et des études marketing, en 1) montrant ce que l'interdisciplinarité pouvait apporter à ces domaines ; en 2) vulgarisant pour les praticiens du marketing les récentes avancées en sciences comportementales ; et en 3) développant une méthodologie qui permet de comprendre le consommateur en profondeur (ZMET). Au fil de son expérience de scientifique du consommateur, Zaltman a analysé la relation entre chargé d'étude et responsable marketing, en mettant en avant les difficultés et les imperfections de cette relation. Ceci lui a permis de 4) formuler des recommandations pour améliorer la relation entre instituts d'études et responsables marketing, afin que ces derniers puissent tirer pleinement profit de leurs données d'études.
