Abstract

Le divorce entre les citoyens et leurs gouvernements est consommé. Ce livre arrive à point nommé. Il montre qu'on ne pourra pas se contenter de perfectionner le PIB et les indicateurs conventionnels si l'on veut donner du sens au monde économique du XXIe siècle. Prenant en compte les préoccupations des Français (accroissement du revenu, réduction des inégalités, emploi), des instruments de mesure existent déjà, offrant une perspective radicalement différente de « la croissance » (du PIB). D'autres indicateurs, plus récents, appréhendent des dimensions tout aussi essentielles du bien-être telles que la santé, l'éducation et la confiance ou encore la compatibilité du développement humain avec les défis écologiques. Véritables marqueurs de civilisation, ils peuvent réenchanter le débat public.Ce livre explique comment ces indicateurs de bien-être et de soutenabilité peuvent servir de boussoles pour de nouvelles politiques et de nouvelles pratiques, et ce à tous les échelons, de la construction européenne à nos territoires. Mesurer, c'est gouverner !
