Abstract

This research studies the role of different types of proximities in collaborative dynamics of coworking spaces. Based on qualitative interviews with the actors of coworking spaces located in small and medium-sized cities, the study shows that geographic proximity is not enough to generate collaborations and that other forms of proximities are required. It also reveals that electronic proximity is important to overcome distances and that opportunity proximity favors inter-organizational collaboration.
