Abstract

The realization of the social bond requires that the individuals submit themselves partially to a totality. But this totality, Jean-Baptiste Say seeks it out of the state; its position does not in any way imply that the constraints of action, structures and institutions are overlooked, rather the opposite. For him, it means building a social bond that is rid of the narrow view of individuals acting separately, which implies conscious action and taking into account the social mechanism. To achieve this, what is needed is the progress of knowledge on what is politics and all the administration it implies, as well as the economy and the dissemination of this knowledge through education. This is his objective from 1792 to 1832.
