La valeur du temps, au cœur du grand bouleversement de nos sociétés

Abstract

Nous manquons de temps. Au cœur de ce constat, il y a deux grands phénomènes. Le premier est économique. Il a été décrit par Gary Becker. Avec lui, le temps apparaît comme un actif économique, un capital fini amené à devenir de plus en plus rare. Le deuxième est d'ordre sociologique et a été développé par Hartmut Rosa qui propose de relire l'histoire moderne à l'aune du concept d'accélération sociale. Ces deux phénomènes se renforcent l'un l'autre. Plus nos sociétés accélèrent, plus notre capital-temps se raréfie et prend de la valeur. Cette combinaison forme un processus d'une puissance inouïe, qui se situe au cœur du grand bouleversement de nos sociétés et défie la possibilité même de l'action politique dans sa capacité à transformer l'ordre des choses.
