Abstract

Après que les usages de l'Internet aient suscité durant une longue période après sa naissance des interprétations positives sur la nature désintéressée des multiples formes de participation de l'internaute-contributeur (Bernard Stiegler), les années récentes ont fait émerger des interrogations contradictoires sur la problématique du Digital Labor. Pour reprendre une expression imagée de Dominique Cardon : " Internet était sympa, il ne l'est plus ". Des réflexions critiques questionnent la manière dont les plates-formes numériques exploitent et valorisent les contributions des internautes, qui apparaissent désormais comme une source d'appropriation de valeur, voire une forme de travail aliéné. Nous présenterons ici deux interprétations de ce tournant. La première s'interroge sur la nature et la résonance historique du Digital Labor ; la seconde est consacrée, à travers les extraits d'un entretien que nous avons mené, à l'exposé des positions de l'un des premiers initiateurs du débat sur ce phénomène aux Etats-Unis, Trebor Scholz.
