Abstract

Ce livre est une sonnette d'alarme et un acte citoyen. Il explique pourquoi l'Europe va dans le mur, mais il refuse le fatalisme des replis nationaux. Il défend l'idée qu'une zone euro repensée et solidaire a la capacité de répondre aux enjeux mondiaux et d'édifier un espace économique, politique et social apaisé. L'Europe souffre d'un manque d'identité et de démocratie ; elle est devenue le fer de lance d'un libéralisme qui impose des cures d'austérité destructrices ; elle n'offre plus de projet mobilisateur. Il faut donc la changer. Mais la refondation nécessaire risque d'être perpétuellement reportée par les gouvernements. Pour avancer vraiment, ce livre appelle à une mobilisation active des citoyens en proposant des instruments pour comprendre et des moyens pour agir. Il espère ainsi redonner le goût et le sens du débat européen.
