Crise du fret ferroviaire : un mal « made in France »

Abstract

L'évocation du fret ferroviaire en France se limite trop souvent aux frontières de l'Hexagone. Elles sont considérées comme coûteuses à traverser et l'idée du marché unique ferroviaire européen reste floue. Pourtant, une fois la «ligne Maginot » franchie, c'est un tout autre monde que l'on découvre où les marchandises circulent massivement du Nord au Sud mais aussi de plus en plus vers l'Est. Les flux internationaux représentent notamment 50% du trafic ferroviaire en Allemagne (transit compris) et dépassent les 80% en Belgique ou aux Pays- Bas contre 25% seulement en France. Alors, que ce passe t- il hors de nos frontières ? Les difficultés françaises sont elles transposables au marché européen ou n'aurions-nous pas raté une marche en matière d'ouverture ?
