Abstract

Information management comprises several discrete minor tasks : gathering, sorting, formatting, filing, updating and recovery. Combined, these tasks often ressemble handyman's work. Through examples, the structural impact of information handling on company life is shown. Besides operational functions, these tasks represent a support for dialogue and a strategy building ressource. Two examples show the process leading to neglect and ignorance of these tasks resulting in deciding without the full picture. Conversely, two other examples highlight task recognition conditions, thus increasing global awareness within the firm. We propose a way to manage this information handling.
