Abstract

Les chercheurs dont ceux de la Commission nationale de Géographie du Commerce se sont beau- coup intéressés, depuis 50 ans, à la thématique « Commerce et espaces urbains ». La production scientifique est abondante, en particulier celle des décennies 1980 et 1990. Les espaces urbains centraux et périphériques sont à la fois lieux d'inscription du commerce, étudiés en tant qu'activité économique, et territoires produits et différenciés par le commerce. La question des relations entre commerce de centre-ville et commerce de périphérie : concurrence ou complémentarité a été très présente et le reste aujourd'hui. Cependant l'étude du commerce s'inscrit aujourd'hui dans le renouvellement des façons de penser la ville.
