Abstract

Tout travail de recherche repose sur une certaine vision du monde, utilise une méthodologie, propose des résultats visant à comprendre, expliquer, prédire ou transformer. Une explicitation de ces présupposés épistémologiques permet de contrôler la démarche de recherche, d'accroître la validité de la connaissance qui en est issue, mais également de mieux saisir nombre de débats entre courants théoriques en management.L'objet de ce chapitre est d'aider le chercheur à conduire cette réflexion épistémologique en l'invitant à s'interroger sur les quatre dimensions suivantes : Quel est ce réel que l'on cherche à appréhender ? Quelle est la nature de la connaissance produite ? Quels sont la valeur et le statut de cette connaissance ? Quelles sont ses incidences sur le réel étudié ? Des éléments de réponse sont proposés en distinguant à grands traits les postures que défendent les différents paradigmes caractéristiques de notre champ de recherche.
