Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze conflicts over water resources in the Poitou-Charentes coastal zone. With the aim of achieving a territorial development, a special analysis is focused on the origin of rivalries, on forms of expression and on ways of resolution. This study is based on the recent development of Proximity economics with a particular emphasis on the ambivalent nature of the organized proximity. We shed light on its possible negative effects and on its role for the resolution of conflicts on the territory studied.
