Abstract

In the countries of the South as in the countries of the North, universities on new territories. In the South, new universities are built under the influence of the decentralization and of the population growth. In the North, it is the effects of the competition that draw the new territories of universities. The analysis of the new university territories is proposed in three sequences in regard to the big missions of the university: the research, the training and the technology transfer. Concerning the research, territories are bounded by bibliometric analyses. Most of the universities of the South do not know the limits of their own territory "research". Concerning the technology transfer, the young universities built on new territories have to be in sync with the companies of their region, but to be effective, they have to preserve links with the historic universities ( mothers universities).
