Abstract

To develop in a changing and competitive environment, Nonprofit organizations always need to manage the tension between their social performance related to their mission, and their economic performance, essential to their survival and longevity. Their effectiveness needs to answer the needs of their beneficiaries as part of their mission and assignment, while being subject to evaluation by their donors. They are accountable for their results, that show their organizational performance. But how can this performance be measured? Is it possible to transpose business science analyzing tools that are used to evaluate business organizations? In this paper, we propose an organizational performance model adapted to humanitarian NGOs' specificities, related to their social mission, their multiple stakeholders as well as their nonprofit nature.
