Qu'est-ce que la recherche qualitative ?

Abstract

Plutôt que de rester dans un laboratoire pour y faire de l'expérimentation, ou dans votre bureau pour y travailler sur une banque de données en mobilisant des méthodes statistiques ou économétriques, vous avez décidé d'aller au contact des acteurs et de construire une approche théorique à partir de ce contact. Vous allez faire de l'observation participante, de l'ethnographie, de la recherche-action, ou simplement mener des entretiens ouverts. En deux mots, vous allez faire de la recherche qualitative. Mais que signifie au juste l'expression " recherche qualitative " ? Est-ce s'interdire de traiter des chiffres ? Est-ce faire une étude de cas ? Quel est l'objectif scientifique de ce type de recherche ? Quelles en sont les caractéristiques propres ?
