Choix Methodologiques En Sciences De Gestion : Pourquoi Tant De Chiffres ?

Abstract

We observed that the degree of mathematical formalization of the methods of research in management sciences increases and that formalized works in reviews of the same discipline were taken a dominant place. If the epistemic approach explains some part of the methodological choices, the analysis shows that certain explanations are technical and others psychological. The first ones correspond to the development of techniques formalized to handle qualitative data and the seconds to the symbolic value of figures. In the end, quantitative techniques offer a support for the researcher in his works and play the role of boundary object in the scientific community by facilitating the exchanges of knowledge.
