Abstract

Les communautés du logiciel libre ont réussi à créer un système incitant des personnes à coopérer volontairement à un système de production et ce alors qu'elles sont disséminées géographiquement, et qu'il n'existe apparemment pas de contraintes institutionnelles. Dans cette recherche, nous étudions les règles qui Permettent de maintenir la cohésion de ces "communautés distantes" et les raisons qui font qu'un individu va y adhérer et s'y investir durablement. Nos nous basons sur des entretiens avec des développeurs impliqués dans des projets libres. Les premiers résultats, que nous présentons ici, montrent que l'implication dans une communauté est construite temporellement, Qu'on peut parler d'une "carrière" pour les développeurs (au sens sociologique du terme). Ces carrières suivent différentes voies, dépendantes du parcours personnel et des référents sociaux.
