Abstract

A propos de The Business of Systems Integration (Prencipe, Davies et Hobday, 2003). De plus en plus de produits sont technologiquement complexes (Complex product systems – CoPS). Ils requièrent une immobilisation en capital élevée, des compétences en ingénierie pointues, et une forte dose de technologies de l'information. Ils font intervenir de multiples technologies, incorporées dans de nombreux composants, et impliquent de facto un nombre élevé de firmes pour les produire. Quelquefois, ils sont conçus pour les besoins d'un client sophistiqué, auquel ils sont livrés en une fois, ou en petites séries. Si une firme ne peut pas à elle seule maîtriser la conception, le développement et la fabrication de ces CoPS, elle doit par contre concevoir et intégrer le système : elle assume alors la fonction d'intégration de systèmes (systems integration), en tant qu'intégrateur de systèmes ou systémier (systems integrator)...
