Retour sur la théorie des ressources

Abstract

Depuis 2003, soit vingt ans après la première formulation de la théorie des ressources par Wernerfelt, sont parus un numéro spécial et plusieurs articles consacrés à cette théorie dans le Strategic Management Journal. Si l'on reprend d'ailleurs les cinq dernières années de cette publication, on a le sentiment que la théorie des ressources est un des courants dominants de la recherche en stratégie, voire le courant dominant : plus de quarante articles ont été consacrés à cette approche durant cette période. Nous nous proposons de revenir sur l'histoire de cette théorie, depuis les premières formulations en passant par les critiques, les réponses aux critiques, pour en venir à la situation actuelle de ce courant théorique qui se caractérise par un double mouvement : un ancrage empirique plus fort et un élargissement et un déplacement de l'approche qui passe de la question des ressources proprement dites à celle de l'hétérogénéité concurrentielle.
