Abstract

Parmi les interrogations qui persistent sur l'opportunité entrepreneuriale (Shane, 2012 ; Venkataraman et al., 2012 ; Alvarez et al., 2013), certaines concernent le style cognitif de l'entrepreneur (Cardon et al., 2009) et son processus de décision (Sarasvathy, 2001). L'identification d'une opportunité est souvent associée à un style cognitif analytique alors même qu'un individu peut par ailleurs être guidé par son intuition et un processus de décision effectual afin de construire une opportunité. Avec une étude qualitative auprès de neuf entreprises, nous étudions le lien éventuel entre le processus de formation de l'opportunité (identification ou construction), le style cognitif de l'entrepreneur (intuitif ou analytique) et le processus de décision mis en œuvre (causal ou effectual). Nos résultats montrent que la relation n'est pas systématique et que l'industrie et la position de l'entreprise sur le secteur d'activité sont déterminantes.
