Abstract

De décembre 2006 à mai 2009, le projet de recherche SOCECO21 a étudié les aspects économiques et sociaux du captage et stockage du CO2 en France. Selon le sondage CIRED-TNS SOFRES réalisé à cette occasion, 6% des français donnent une définition exacte du stockage géologique du CO2. L'approbation de la technologie est de 59% a priori, tombant à 38% après un exposé orienté sur ses risques. La technologie apparaît ainsi dans l'ensemble méconnue. L'acceptabilité de la filière technologique reste à construire, ce qui est d'autant plus urgent que les premiers démonstrateurs sont déjà là et reposent la question au niveau local. A terme, le projet a montré que stocker autour de 60 Mt de CO2 par an en 2050 en France semble technologiquement et géologiquement faisable. La CSC pourrait être économiquement intéressante en France en 2030 si la valeur du carbone augmente aussi vite que le recommande le Conseil d'Analyse Stratégique du gouvernement
