Les grandes évolutions du secteur associatif français

Abstract

Cet article s'appuie sur une enquête conduite auprès des associations à partir des municipalités et permet de renouveler les grandes données quantitatives de cadrage du secteur associatif français sous différents angles (profil, ressources, emploi salarié, travail bénévole). Trois grands types d'associations sont ainsi caractérisés et analysés : les associations dont le projet est articulé à l'action publique, les associations militantes et les associations de membres orientées vers la pratique d'une activité. L'auteur apporte un éclairage sur les grandes évolutions qu'a connues le secteur associatif entre 1999 et 2005 ; on voit en particulier que le poids des associations dans l'économie continue d'augmenter à un rythme supé- rieur à celui du PIB. Et les résultats tirés de cette enquête contredisent un certain nombre de discours tenus ces dernières années sur le désengage- ment de l'Etat ou la crise du bénévolat. On assiste plutôt à une restructuration des financements publics ainsi qu'à une transformation du profil des bénévoles.
