Abstract

Cet article fournit quelques éléments explicatifs de l'«énigme» de la croissance économique chinoise extraordinairement forte depuis plusieurs décennies. Il montre que les succès actuels, qui ont su maîtriser efficacement l'ouverture du pays au système mondial, reposent sur des bases qui ont été posées au cours de la période maoïste. L'accumulation de capital, mais aussi les dépenses d'éducation et de recherche ont été des facteurs importants de ce dynamisme. Toutefois, la stratégie de développement chinoise n'a pas été exempte de problèmes, voire de « crises ».
