Capitalisme et mondialisation : une convergence des modèles ?

Abstract

La mondialisation et le succès du libéralisme ont popularisé le thème de la convergence institutionnelle vers le modèle anglo-saxon : les spécificités nationales et régionales du capitalisme s'estomperaient sous l'effet de la concurrence, et le modèle libéral deviendrait progressivement la voie unique. Le thème de la convergence vers un modèle économique jugé supérieur n'est toutefois pas récent ; il est même cyclique, et les prévisions qui en découlent ont jusque-là rarement été vérifiées. Après ce rappel qui incite à la prudence, Bruno Amable propose une typologie des modèles actuels de capitalisme selon la spécificité et la complémentarité de leurs institutions. Il montre ensuite que si leurs évolutions récentes les ont en effet rapprochés du modèle anglo-saxon, elles ne suffisent pas à établir le constat d'une convergence vers ce modèle, les compromis sociaux les plus fondamentaux n'ayant pas été significativement altérés.
