Die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung des Sports in Deutschland

Abstract

Die Sportwirtschaft als Querschnittsbranche setzt sich aus einer Vielzahl von Wirtschaftszweigen bzw. Teilen dieser Wirtschaftszweige zusammen, weswegen Umsatz-, Beschäftigungs- und Wertschöpfungsbeiträge nicht direkt aus der amtlichen Statistik abgeleitet werden können. Durch die Erstellung von Satellitenkonten zu den Volkswirtschaftlichen Gesamtrechnungen (VGR) bietet die Wirtschaftsstatistik aber ein etabliertes Verfahren zur nachvollziehbaren Ermittlung der direkten ökonomischen Bedeutung von Querschnittsaktivitäten. Vor diesem Hintergrund wurde im Auftrag des Bundesinstituts für Sportwissenschaft (BISp) von der GWS mbH ein Satellitenkonto für den Sport (SSK) entwickelt. Das für das Berichtsjahr 2008 erstellte SSK zeigt im Detail, welchen Beitrag der Sport für das Bruttoinlandsprodukt leistet und welche Bereiche der deutschen Wirtschaft direkt vom Sport profitieren. Im Jahr 2008 wurde in Deutschland durch direkt mit dem Sport verbundene Produktionsaktivitäten ein Beitrag von ca. 3,3 % zur gesamtwirtschaftlichen Bruttowertschöpfung in Höhe von 2.217 Mrd. EUR geleistet. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass in hochentwickelten Volkswirtschaften wie Deutschland der Sport mittlerweile ein nicht mehr zu vernachlässigender Wirtschaftsfaktor ist und einen erheblichen Beitrag zur gesellschaftlichen Wohlfahrt leistet.
