Abstract

Objective - This study was conducted to assess the attitudes, aspirations and gender differences of pre - service Mathematics teachers of Isabela State University for the 2nd semester of school year 2018 - 2019. Developing students' attitudes and aspirations through highlighting the gender difference and relevance of mathematics to everyday life maybe beneficial. Methodology/Technique - This study has a total number of 106 participants of which 72 are females and 34 are males. A quantitative descriptive research design was employed in this study with four - part questionnaire which included the students' profile, attitude, aspiration, and motivation as the data gathering instrument. The data was tabulated, analyzed and interpreted according to the objectives of the study. A Z - test was used to analyze and determine the significant difference between gender and attitude as well as for, motivation, and aspiration.Findings - Based on the findings of the study, it is concluded that gender affects the attitude of the pre - service Mathematics teachers in learning Mathematics as well as their aspirations. Finally, it was also recommended to do further research to this topic in other disciplines to reduce skill disparities among students.Type of Paper - Empirical.
