Creative industries as a new source of growth for the Russian economy amid the global economic slowdown and low oil prices

Abstract

Creativity, that is, the ability of people to find non-standard, creative ways to achieve goals, is currently one of the key development one factors and sources of innovation, in addition to information and knowledge. Creative economy attracts and retains a highly skilled workforce. It is the representatives of the creative class – people who do not necessarily have creative professions (which traditionally include artists, artists, writers, etc.) – who make the most significant contribution to economic growth and are able to change the future by generating new knowledge, forms and technologies. The need for creativity and the desire to change the world around has always been, is and will be the main driver of the evolution of mankind and a great impulse for development. Modern culture provides people with many opportunities for creative self-expression, being, like many spheres of human activity, influenced by advanced technologies, including in the artistic environment. Creative sector is becoming economic growth factor along with physical and human capital. In different countries or regions of the world. There are various models of creative industries in different countries, taking into account the peculiarities of each region or country. That is why this work aims to analyze how the concept of creative industries is revealed in the literature; how different authors distinguish between cultural and creative industries; what models of creative industries exist in the world. Further, the paper describes the current state of creative sector in the world and in Russia, as well as the role of creative industries in the post-pandemic recovery of the Russian economy.
