A Cure For Fear: What Kind Of Policy Can Ease The Conflict In The North Caucasus Of Russia

Abstract

This paper is devoted to the strategic perspectives on the North Caucasus region. The author analyses the causes of conflicts in the region, positive and negative features of the federal policy in the North Caucasus Federal District. On the basis of the analysis policy recommendations were formulated aiming at correction of the current policy. Implementation of this policy recommendations, in the author's view, will contribute to a decrease of conflict potential in the region. The field research results are widely used in the paper.
