Abstract

This Selected Issues and Statistical Appendix report on Australia was prepared by a staff team of the International Monetary Fund as backgrownd documentation for the periodic consultation with Canada. The paper presents details about: The behavior of Canadian Dollar; Inflation and the Nature of Natural Rate of Unemployment in Canada; Business Taxation in Canada; The Canadian Personal Income Tax System; "Brain Drain" from Canada to the United States; Poverty Traps and Social Assistance Reform in Canada; Canada's Financial System.
