"Un-Learning" as Transition Process in Building Strategic Networks

Abstract

Participation in a strategic network constitutes a radical departure from formerly prevalent modes of organizing which requires a change of 'theories-in-use' associated with independent operations. The transition process between these cognitive constructs associated with 'old' organizational forms, e.g. divisional or functional structures, and, 'new' organizational formes, e.g., 'strategic networks' can be conceptualized as an un-learning process. Understanding these transition processes may help to better understand and manage entry processes in strategic networks.
