Etats-Unis: Cercle Vicieux ou Cercle Vertueux de la Dette Exterieure et du Dollar?

Abstract

Nous Examinons, A l'aide d'un modele theorique du taux de change d'equilibre, les effets de deux chocs structurels apparemment contradictoires qui ont ete subis par les Etats-Unis: une baisse de l'epargne privee, une hausse de l'investissement en technologies et de l'efficacite du capital productif. Nous montrons que, si les effets a long terme de ces deux chocs sont semblables (depreciation reelle du dollar et hausse de la dette exterieure des Etats-Unis), le premier genere une dynamique "vicieuse" et le second une dynamique "vertueuse".
