La Banque Centrale doit-elle reagir vite ou reagir avec retard a l'inflation?

Abstract

Lorsque des pressions inflationnistes apparaissent au debut d'un cycle d'expansion, ce qui pourrait etrele cas dans la zone euro, alors que l'investissement est encore faible et le chomage encore eleve, la Banque Centrale a le choix entre deux stategies. Passer rapidement a une politique monetaire restrictive, pour eviter le developpement de l'inflation, avec le risque d'etouffer prococement l'investissement et la croissance; reagir progressivement et avec retard, pour maintenir la reprise de l'investissement, au risque de laisser l'inflation accelerer. Nous utilisons un modele theorique dynamique pour le capital, la croissance et l'inflation pour comparer ces deux strategies possibles pour la Banque Centrale.
