Modification du nominal des actions en France : signal ou événement cosmétique ?

Abstract

La littérature existante quant-à l’incidence des annonces de divisions/multiplications de nominal sur le marché est aujourd’hui relativement abondante mais principalement anglo-saxonne. Plusieurs hypothèses majeures en émergent, la principale étant l’hypothèse de « signal ». Selon cette hypothèse, les investisseurs interprètent l’annonce de modification du nominal comme une information nouvelle vis-à-vis des perspectives futures de la société et réagissent en conséquence. La présente étude propose alors de tester empiriquement cette hypothèse « classique » outre-Atlantique sur le marché boursier français, peu étudié jusqu’alors, tout en tenant compte de ses spécificités intéressantes vis-à-vis des Etats-Unis.
