¿Cuánto cuesta actualizar las pensiones con la inflación?

Abstract

En esta nota se cuantifica el coste de la supresión del IRP para volver a la indexación de las pensiones al IPC. El experimento específico de política que se analiza consiste en actualizar las pensiones contributivas pagadas en 2017 con la inflación (que se supone del 2%) durante un solo ejercicio para volver después a la tasa de actualización del 0,25% que habría que aplicar en la situación actual bajo la normativa del IRP ahora suspendida. Aunque el coste inmediato de la medida sería relativamente modesto e iría decreciendo después con el paso del tiempo, los efectos persistirían durante varias décadas y el incremento acumulado del gasto, calculado a precios constantes, rondaría los 30.000 millones de euros, lo que supone unas 13 veces el coste inicial.
