The Czech Council for R&D developed a new version of the Methodic for the Evaluation of R&D. In this paper, we discuss especially three criteria from this Methodic: - publications in impacted journals - publications in other scientific refereed journals - evaluation of publications with more authors. The first criterion ignores the birth of a new interdisciplinary database SCOPUS, in the second criterion, a clear definition of a scientific journal is missing. The third criterion we only briefly mention in relation with other problems. We provide the general information about both the SCOPUS and Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory databases, the second one explicitly working with the category „scientific periodical“ and because of that useable for the implementation of the second criterion. We mention another possibility to categorize a scientific journal. We provide information about two methodic for the evaluation of R&D institutions used in the world. In conclusions, we summarize our recommendations.
