Hoe duurzaam is het Chinese bestuursmodel?

Abstract

We beschrijven het Chinese bestuursmodel aan de hand van zes unieke aspecten. Drie eigenschappen van top-down bestuur: autocratisch leiderschap, meritocratisch personeelsbeleid, en intens lobbyen achter de schermen. Drie eigenschappen die de basis vormen van de werking en legitimatie van de partij: controle over de bureaucratie, frequente betogingen en demonstraties, en wijdverspreide corruptie. We gaan vervolgens na hoe de twee grote uitdagingen van het moment—de anti-corruptie campagne en de transitie van de industrie naar de dienstensector—dit bestuursmodel onder druk zetten.
