Abstract

[EN] This paper considers the estimation of the effect of vocational education on the probability of employment using Spanish data from the linked Active Population Survey (EPA) since 1992 to 1997. After allowing for possible sample-selection bias and heteroskedasticity in estimation, only evidence of the later is found. Finally a probit model with multiplicative heteroskedasticity is estimated and it is found that those unemployed who receive vocational education for more than one survey achieve significant increases in the probability of finding a job before their last survey from the EPA. These increases are greater for women than for men. Since unemployment among women is specially severe in Spain, the greater chances of going out of unemployment that they get due to the realization of vocational education must be emphasized.
