Estrategia de desarrollo y transición demográfica: el caso de Chile

Abstract

El proyecto Estrategias de Desarrollo y Politicas de Poblacion en America Latina se centra en el estudio de las politicas "implicitas" de poblacion, es decir, las consecuencias demograficas no previstas de la accion del Estado, en especial de las politicas sociales. El informe de la parte chilena se inicia con una breve descripcion del marco teorico y de las proposiciones e hipotesis para luego detallar las caracteristicas y dinamica demografica del pais (1920-1973), con enfasis en la heterogeneidad social y espacial. En el estudio de las relaciones de los factores socio-economicos-fecundidad, se identifican los sectores sociales claves que dan cuenta de los cambios operados en la decada del 60. Luego la atencion se desplaza al ambito de la estructura politica, las estrategias de desarrollo y el rol redistributivo del Estado en una perspectiva historica de los condicionantes de la transicion demografica. En las conclusiones se intenta una explicacion social global de la trayectoria de la fecundidad a la luz del marco teorico adoptado.
