Migración interna y asentamientos humanos en América Latina y el Caribe (1990-2010)

Abstract

Este trabajo explota los microdatos censales, la única fuente existente en la región que permite aproximarse a la migración entre ciudades, de una decena de países para: i) estimar la evolución reciente de esta migración de acuerdo a categorías de tamaño demográfico de las ciudades (incluyendo una categoría residual que agrupa a los municipios sin ciudades); ii) cuantificar el efecto de esta migración sobre la composición por sexo y edad, y el nivel educativo de estas categorías de ciudades; iii) evaluar de forma general y preliminar las relaciones bidireccionales entre las condiciones socioeconómicas de las categorías de ciudades, por un lado, y la cuantía y los efectos de la migración entre ellas, por otro lado.
