Las encuestas de hogares como fuente de información para el análisis de la educación y sus vínculos con el bienestar y la equidad

Abstract

Resumen En un contexto de nuevas demandas y necesidades de información para el diagnóstico y evaluación de políticas educativas, se señalan algunas potencialidades de la información proveniente de las encuestas de hogares, para el análisis de las características educacionales de la población. Mediante ejemplos basados en datos de encuestas de diferentes países latinoamericanos se sugieren modelos de análisis y de uso de la información y se proponen y examinan los siguientes indicadores: cobertura de la educación preescolar y la situación de pobreza; dimensión de equidad en relación con metas educacionales para la infancia establecidas por UNICEF; nivel y evolución de las remuneraciones de los maestros; vínculo entre nivel educacional, ingreso laboral y pobreza; y transmisión intergeneracional de las oportunidades de bienestar a través de la educación.
