Abstract

We analyze the situation of the Spanish economy in 2021, taking into account the evolution of the Industry and the real GDP of Spain throughout the 20th century and the effects of the financial crisis of 2007-2012 and the impact of the pandemic of year 2020 on the development of Tourism and other Services sectors. We highlight the convenience of recovering and increasing the level of industrial production per inhabitant, due to its positive impact on production and employment in non-industrial sectors. We compare the Production per capita and Productivity per worker in Spain, with other OECD countries (France, Germany, the United States and others), in the period 1965-2019. We also analyze the real Income per inhabitant of the Spanish regions, and we include links to other reports on the Spanish economy.
