Goriot et Lear : quel gâchis !

Abstract

Il arrive que des enfants ne viennent pas en aide à leurs parents âgés que ce soit sous forme affective ou financière. Pour éviter telle ingratitude filiale, il suffit pour celui qui le peut de léguer son patrimoine à la fin de sa vie et non prématurément. Cette situation ne date pas d’hier. Des deux côtés de la Manche, on connaît les malheurs du Roi Lear de Shakespeare et ceux tout aussi tragiques du Père Goriot de Balzac. Deux vies qui sont autant de gâchis. La lecture de ces deux œuvres peutelle conduire plus d’un parent à éviter les donations prématurées et à leur préférer les legs en fin de vie, afin d’éviter tout risque d’ingratitude ? Rien n’est moins sûr.
