La demanda de educación superior: una revisión de la literatura

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es ofrecer una revisión de la literatura económica sobre las teorías que analizan la demanda de educación superior desde una perspectiva microeconómica en la que los individuos deciden la cantidad de tiempo y dinero dedicado a la educación, lo que finalmente determina la cantidad de mano de obra educada en los países. Entre las teorías fundamentales de esta revisión se puede resaltar la teoría del capital humano. Finalmente, se debe mencionar que la literatura económica sobre la demanda de educación es mucho más numerosa en países desarrollados que en países en vía de desarrollo, principalmente por que los desarrollos teóricos y empíricos se han dado en Estados Unidos y Europa. Sin embargo, la literatura en los países en vía de desarrollo es creciente debido a la preocupación que existe a nivel mundial por la equidad en el sistema de educación superior.
