Impacto social del TLC con Estados Unidos

Abstract

Este análisis de coyuntura social tiene como objetivo evaluar los principales efectos de un potencial Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC) entre Colombia y Estados Unidos sobre la economía nacional, en particular en el campo social. Con este objetivo en mente, el análisis se divide en dos partes principales que buscan identificar el impacto potencial del TLC sobre los segmentos más vulnerables de la población colombiana en i) el largo plazo y ii) en el corto plazo. En la Segunda sección se presenta una revisión de los estudios recientes que evalúan los efectos económicos y sociales de una mayor liberalización comercial para el caso colombiano. En la tercera sección se desarrolla un ejercicio que tiene como propósito identificar los sectores de la población en condición de vulnerabilidad relativa frente a los efectos esperados de corto plazo de la mayor apertura comercial, a través del análisis de la estructura de la canasta de consumo y el portafolio de ingresos de los hogares más pobres. Finalmente, en la Sección IV, se presenta un resumen de las principales conclusiones.
